Honors Program for Men

What is the Honors Program for Men?

The Honors Program offers a confidential Christian context to find God and a wise path back to personal and relational health for men who struggle with sexually addictive behavior and relational brokenness. Central to the program is our commitment to small groups where men come to grow in relational maturity and find a God-honoring path for repairing what has been broken.  Components of the program are highlighted below:

  • Each group offers a confidential Christian community for men, who are focused on sexual and relationship recovery.
  • Each session contains education, dialogue, small group experience, structured exercises, mentoring, and materials to understand and work through issues related to recovery and relationship restoration.
  • Each term will focus on Recovery Fundamentals, Story Work (which isdesigned to identify and address root issues in a participant’s story that stand in the way of healing), and Sexual Health (which focuses on issues related to relational repair and healthy intimacy.

How do I join an Honors group? (Interview / Assessment)

Call The Barnabas Center (704-365-4545) and set up an Honors Interview.  This confidential face-to-face pre-program interview & assessment session is with John Pierce and is a required first step for participation consideration

This individualized and discussion-oriented 50-minute consultation offers the opportunity to talk about your story, current needs, and interest in group participation with an experienced counselor.  Ultimately, this meeting is designed to explore the best course of action for your situation, determine readiness for group experience, and to discuss the resources available (at The Barnabas Center and in the community).

This meeting in no way obligates participation, or implies acceptance, into the Honors Program.

When can I start?

If, after the initial interview, it is determined that the program is a good fit, you will be invited to attend the next start date (typically offered three times annually: September / January / April).

When and how long does a group meet?

Groups meet Tuesday nights from 6-8PM (except for the first and last weeks, which are double sessions from 6-9PM, typically 12 consecutive weeks).  At the beginning of each term, all participants will receive orientation information, materials, and an overview of the term.  After completing the first term of Honors, participants can choose to continue in future terms until desired goals are met.

What does it cost to join Honors?

The cost is $1050 per term, plus a one-time initial consultation fee of $165 for your interview with John Pierce.  Full payment of $1050 is due before the first session of each term. Invoices will be mailed once your participation is confirmed. “Group Scholarship” applications are also available upon request and are granted based on need and availability.

Who leads the groups?

John D. Pierce, LCMHCS, CSAT, works with other professionals in the community and trained lay leadership to provide a strong and supportive place for men to do the work of life, relationship, and heart restoration. To read John’s bio CLICK HERE.

What if I don’t want (or am not ready) to begin the Honors Program, but need immediate direction with issues related to sexual brokenness, addiction, or betrayal?

John Pierce provides Honors-related consultations for those needing experienced help and hope in this area of struggle.  These sessions are available for individuals or couples and/or spouses that need immediate direction and resources. Honors-related consultations are not a commitment for ongoing counseling. They are meant to offer a limited-time opportunity to have some strategic interaction around the best next steps for your situation, and they offer an opportunity to discuss the many questions surrounding sexual and relationship recovery. Consultations are typically 50 minutes.  Call or Email for More Information
