Laurie Hobbs

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling Associate

Laurie has been a counselor at The Barnabas Center since 2018.  She completed her Master of Christian Counseling at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 2015 and her undergraduate degree in Human Development at UNC-Chapel Hill.

She has experience counseling women and couples at a local church as well as incarcerated women at the Mecklenburg County Jail.  She recently completed co-counseling training with Pete Bondy.

Laurie enjoys counseling women and couples dealing with various issues, such as:

  • Aging
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Divorce
  • Grief
  • Life transitions
  • Loss
  • Parenting, step-parenting and parenting adult children
  • Relational brokenness
  • Trauma

She feels especially passionate about helping individuals to find curiosity and compassion for their stories and freedom to be who God created them to be.

Laurie is married to Michael and they have five grown children, three grandsons, and one granddaughter.  In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, walking, reading, spending time with friends and family, especially playing with her grandchildren.
